Despite the arrival of the Air Max 1 ‘86 version, the modern Air Max 1 rendition is still highly in demand. The sleek and sporty aesthetic of the shoe originated from France’s historic Centre Pompidou, which was the main inspiration for the mudguard panel. Tinker Hatfield brainstormed with the rest of his crew to create the Air Max 1. Initially, the heel Air bubble was bigger but shrunk to prevent the bubble from popping faster. This was the basis for the Air Max ‘86 as new technologies developed more ways to strengthen the bubble.
