When Nike introduced Zoom Air technology in 1996, people thought Air Max would be phased out. Fortunately, the two cushioning systems provide a similar bouncy feeling but with different functions. Zoom Air offers more spring and explosiveness, while Air Max boasts maximum impact protection. Nike Tuned Air innovates this by bringing more support and stability due to the rubber case of the Air unit. The Nike TN Air Max Plus 3 is the third model in the Tuned Air roster and features aggressive lines on the TPU-covered upper. Mesh comprises the shoe with gradient details on the upper. Visible Tuned Air units make up the midsole, while a large plastic shank serves as a midfoot shank plate and the heel counter.
